Skin suddenly feels different?
Make the routine gentler, not louder.

Menopause can change how skin holds moisture and responds to products. Build a simple routine around gentle cleansing, moisturizing and daily sun protection.

Why skin can feel drier

The American Academy of Dermatology says menopause can reduce the skin’s ability to hold water, while skin may also become thinner and more easily irritated. That can make an old routine suddenly feel too harsh.

Build around three basics

Start with a mild cleanser instead of a drying soap, apply moisturizer after bathing and whenever skin feels dry, and use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher on exposed skin every day. AAD notes that moisturizers containing ingredients such as glycerin or hyaluronic acid can be helpful for dryness.

Simple routine: gentle cleanse → moisturizer → daytime SPF. Add complexity only when there is a reason.

Be careful with “more is better”

Skin that is thinner or more sensitive may not tolerate aggressive exfoliation or harsh acne treatments the way it once did. Persistent dryness, rashes, worsening skin conditions or concerning spots deserve a dermatologist’s assessment.
